GI's Experience By Odessa Osilla Global Idealogy Corporation | 27 March 2009

When we were presented with the opportunity to integrate with SpinVox Voice conversion system through SpinVox Create API programme, we got overwhelmed with a lot of interesting ideas, from a simple note recording tool to a corporate application like mobile sales force tool. Having a voice-to-text conversion ability readily available at almost no overhead cost broadened our horizon to create innovative mobile applications.

We chose to create 'Travel Blog' because those who love to travel and see places are always 'on the go', but at the same time, have this ultimate need of capturing the moment through pictures and words.  By being able to record their thoughts and post to blogs instantly, they would be able to more accurately capture their feelings and ideas.  We also thought it would be something easy to use and appealing to the user.

Travel Blog is a Windows Mobile 6 based handset app that enables direct posting of blog entries, email and MMS with images straight from your Windows Mobile device. You can record messages directly on your device, send this for conversion, attach an image to the converted text, and then post it to your blog or send an “e-postcard” via email, and MMS.

In terms of development, we found it easy to integrate Spinvox Create into 'Travel Blog'.  Although the Windows mobile platform posed some challenges such as the incompatibility of the Audio File format, and the limitation of the API .NET compact framework in posting large data, it was relatively straight forward to use SpinVox Create in the development of 'Travel Blog'.

Having the opportunity of using SpinVox’s voice-to-text platform gave a really interesting twist in the way we do development. Developers at Global Idealogy are used to work in corporate mobile and server-based applications, but, developing Travel Blog gave them a fresh new perspective in mobile application development.
